Dannemora Mineral endeavours to create a working environment which enthuses and stimulates employees, and allows a balance between work and private life. A safe working environment work is conducive to a lasting and successful business. As well as causing personal injury, serious accidents can also halt production and result in erosion of confidence. Safety initiatives are therefore given top priority in the company. It is our aim to have the industry’s safest facilities and ensure that no-one shall be harmed by any of Dannemora Mineral’s activities. These high aims will be achieved by pursuing systematic safety and environmental work, with all risks of accidents reported, analysed and actioned.
Environment
Resumption of operations in the Dannemora mine and long-term development of other deposits will have an impact on the surrounding environment, mainly in the form of landscape changes, noise, and emissions into the air and water. It goes without saying that we shall go beyond legislative requirements to minimise the negative environmental impact our activities may have. Our environmental work is as much about reducing environmental damage as being resource-efficient. By introducing targeted energy efficiency initiatives and limiting emissions, water consumption, land use and waste, not only do we minimise our environmental impact, but we also achieve lower production costs and increase the efficiency of our operations. All these factor strengthen our long term competitiveness.
Consistent environmental work also makes it easier for us to meet existing and future legislation, as well as requirements imposed by different interest groups. In the face of rapid evolution of knowledge and technology, it is essential that we continue our efforts to improve our environmental performance.
The company has a stated environment policy of limiting the environmental impact of its activities as far as possible. Our environment programme will be forward-looking and focused on ensuring the company is also able to meet stricter environment requirements introduced the future.
