The pumping proceeds as planned

The pumping of the Dannemora mine has now been going on for 8 months and it is with great pleasure that we can state that the till now largest part of the reconstruction work proceeds as planned.

After eleven months of preparations, pumping started in late May 2009 when the water level was at 310 metres. Today, the water level has sunk to 458 metres and by the end of February or beginning of March the mine is expected to be dry down to the 465 metre level and the operation thereby finalised. In total, around 3.0 million m³ of water has been pumped up.
