First blasting round in the opening slot at production level 162 m in Strömsmalmen
As part of the preparations for reopening of the mine, Dannemora Mineral intends to produce 60,000 tonnes of final products as testing material for potential customers. For this purpose, the contractor Bergteamet will produce c. 160,000 tonnes of crude ore by sub-level caving at the 162 metres production level in Strömsmalmen.
On Wednesday 17 February at 1.07 pm the first blasting round went off. The detonation comprised over 3 tonnes of explosives and was expected to generate c. 4,700 tonnes of crude ore.
